Update on Schedule A Visa Number Availability (3/16/06)

In response to an inquiry submitted by the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the Department of State provided the following update regarding the availability of Schedule A visa numbers: "We currently have approximately 20,000 Schedule A numbers remaining. I expect the category to remain "current" through the end of FY-2006. I will probably need to establish a cut-off date at some point during the first quarter of FY-2007. All this is subject to change should there be a dramatic change in the current demand pattern."
